TESLA (1856 - 1943) Lahir di Kroasia dengan orangtua dari Serbia, berimigrasi ke Amerika Serikat tahun 1884.Pernah bekerja dengan Thomas Edison.Berbekal pengetahuan membangun motor AC tanpa komutator dan pada tahun 1888 membangun "motor Induksinya" yang pertama, yang merupakan faktor penentu dalam penyebarluasan penggunaan suplai AC.

Kemungkina motorinduksi adalah jenis motor listrik yang paling banyak di gunakan. TESLA juga menukan transformator yang bekerja pada frekuensi sangat tinggi dan menghasilkan tegangan yang sangat besar. Transformator ini sebut kumparan TESLA.
